On the morning of September 13, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vien - Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Khuong Commune - said that heavy rain lasting for many hours caused some locations on the National Highway 4G section passing through the commune to be deeply flooded.
Many sections of water overflowed the road, carrying soil, rocks and garbage, causing local congestion, making it difficult for vehicles to move.
"At around 10:30 p.m. on September 12, heavy rain caused a landslide behind the house of a household in Khuong Tien village. The rock and soil fell into the house, collapsing part of the house wall and injuring one person" - Mr. Vien said.
That same night, local authorities coordinated with police and militia forces to evacuate people and property from the area at risk of landslides.
