The serious landslide occurred on September 2, on the only road connecting Tuong Ha and Kim Bon communes, causing traffic disruption for dozens of households to be urgently evacuated.
The landslide location at Km0+200 (in Pa village, Tuong Ha commune) caused about 200,000m3 of landslides, completely breaking a section of road about 85m long.

Landslides not only paralyze traffic but also directly threaten people's lives. Tuong Ha Commune People's Committee has urgently evacuated 10 households with 37 people in Pa village.
Due to the landslides, 3/4 of the stream was filled, the flow was directed to residential areas, threatening to flood 10 other households with 45 people.
In particular, Kim Bon commune is completely isolated, and people's production activities face many difficulties. In particular, the transportation of agricultural products of the people and the provision of food and provisions for nearly 1,600 boarding students of the Commune Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.
On September 12, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ngo Duc Duong - Chairman of Kim Bon Commune People's Committee said that there are currently more than 1,000 households with nearly 8,000 people in 7 isolated villages of the commune.

"It is the agricultural harvest season but people cannot transport it, so providing food for students is very difficult. In recent days, the police, military and people have had to support the transportation of food and provisions around the stream through the landslide area and then bring it to the school" - Mr. Duong said.
Faced with the above situation, the People's Committee of Tuong Ha commune has directed the Civil Defense Command to mobilize forces to support the evacuation of people and property to a safe place. Coordinate with Kim Bon commune to open a temporary road for motorbikes and pedestrians through the landslide area.

Tuong Ha and Kim Bon communes have directed forces to maintain 24/7 duty, monitor weather developments, put up warning signs, and propagate to people not to go through dangerous areas.
At the same time, it is recommended that the People's Committee of Son La province, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the Provincial Civil Defense Command promptly send inspection and assessment teams on site to have a handling plan to ensure safety for people and vehicles.
