On August 21, information from the Civil Defense Command of Nghe An province said that heavy rain from August 19-20 caused damage to people, houses, agricultural production and transport infrastructure in the area.
According to the updated report as of 4:30 PM on August 20, Nghe An recorded 1 death, Mr. H.S. V, residing in Giai Lac commune. The victim was swept away by water while fishing in the new bridge area, Khe Chua dam.
Heavy rain also put 1 household in Noong Mo village, Nga My commune at risk of house collapse due to riverbank erosion and has been urgently relocated. 4 houses were eroded, 25 houses were flooded below 0.5m; some houses in Con Cuong, Nghia Mai, Quy Van communes were flooded below 1m but have not been fully statistically recorded.

In agricultural production, initially recorded 114.95ha of rice, 619.89ha of crops and 86.65ha of annual crops damaged. In addition, more than 22ha of aquaculture ponds and lakes were affected, and 1 cage was damaged.
In Hung Chan commune, about 100m of the fence of Chau Phong Kindergarten was eroded.
Heavy rain also caused flooding and landslides on many traffic routes. According to the Nghe An Department of Construction, 8 locations on provincial roads were flooded, causing congestion; 15 urban roads were flooded from 10-30cm, making it difficult for vehicles to move.
In localities, the bypass road for the construction of Khe Trang bridge, Thanh Binh Tho commune and the temporary bridge serving the construction of the Trung Thang bridge project, Yen Hoa commune were swept away by water.

Con Toc overflow bridge, Nga My commune was flooded, causing 3 villages Na Ngan, Na Kho and Xop Kho to be temporarily cut off. In Tam Thai commune, some roads and overflow bridges were flooded, causing 7 remote villages to be temporarily cut off.
The whole province recorded 10 overflowing bridges flooded, 6 traffic points eroded and flooded; 132m of local traffic roads eroded with about 568m3 of soil and rock.
Regarding irrigation, 5 temporary dams in Cam Phuc commune were damaged, 9m of canals and ditches in Quy Hop commune were damaged and eroded.
The Steering Committee for Civil Defense of Nghe An province has requested localities to mobilize local forces to support affected people, deploy drainage, protect production and continue to review and statistically assess damage.
