On the morning of August 20, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi - Chairman of Dien Chau Commune People's Committee, Nghe An province said that heavy rain from August 19 caused some households in the former Dien Bich commune area to be flooded.

This is an area near the river, which is often flooded when it rains heavily. Due to the large amount of water pouring in and not draining in time, some areas are flooded. Up to now, the locality has cleared the flow and the water has basically receded" - Mr. Nguyen Van Loi said.

Meanwhile, in the western region of Nghe An, heavy rain lasted from August 19 to the morning of August 20, causing water from upstream to flow in, streams and creeks to rise rapidly, causing road flooding and traffic disruption in some areas.

In Tam Thai commune, the overflow bridge on the road to Tam Hop Secondary School and Phong village was submerged by floodwaters. The water rose high and flowed swiftly, making it impossible for people and vehicles to pass.

The road to the Tam Hop area, where there are many residential villages such as Khoi, Xong Con, Xop Nam, Phong, Vang Mon, Huoi Son, Pha Lom, is temporarily cut off from the outside.

Some sections of National Highway 7 through Tam Thai commune were also flooded onto the road surface, causing difficulties and potential dangers for people and vehicles traveling.

In Tam Quang commune, heavy rain caused water to rise in many areas, and at the same time caused trees to fall, affecting traffic.

A large tree in the Sang Le forest area was broken, blocking the road. Local authorities have mobilized forces and machinery to the scene to cut, move trees and clear the road surface. After the obstacles were handled, traffic through this area was restored.

Local authorities warn that during the rainy season, waterlogged soil increases the risk of landslides, subsidence and unexpected forest tree felling, people need to be cautious when moving through mountainous areas.
