According to representatives of Hai Phong Drainage One Member Limited Liability Company, due to forecasts of heavy rain, right from the evening of June 29, Hai Phong Drainage One Member Limited Liability Company has lowered the buffer water level in the regulating lake ditches to increase water storage capacity when there is heavy rain on a large scale. As soon as the rain started, the Company pumped at rainwater pumping stations: Ba Tong, Vinh Niem, May Den, Nam Song Cam, Thuong Ly, Trai Chuoi and Bach Dang underpass, Rao bridge underpass to strengthen drainage for the city. At the same time, the Company has assigned officials and employees to be on duty at some points at risk of flooding to promptly handle arising situations.
From 5 am this morning, the Company arranged 100% of personnel to collect garbage at collection gates and manholes to allow water to recede quickly; open manhole covers at key locations to enhance drainage capacity; inspect and set up checkpoints at all flood hotspots. Along with that, operate pumping stations at maximum capacity; regulate and open tide-preventing culverts and spillway culverts to discharge into rivers when tide levels begin to drop; clear flow at discharge gates, ditches and regulating lakes.
