On October 18, prolonged heavy rain caused water from the mountains to flow down, causing deep flooding in many areas in Da Nang City. Hundreds of vehicles stalled, traffic was paralyzed, and people struggled to move in the floodwaters.
The floodwaters from the mountainous areas rushed down, rolling over the roads and residential areas on Au Co Street, Lien Chieu Ward, Da Nang City.
From the night of October 17 to the morning of October 18, Da Nang had prolonged heavy rain, causing many sections of the road in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to be deeply flooded.
On Au Co Street, the area near Thanh Vinh Market was flooded at the highest level of more than 0.5m and the water flowed rapidly, causing many difficulties in traffic. It is estimated that hundreds of vehicles stalled while trying to cross the floodwaters.


The functional forces of Lien Chieu ward were mobilized to support the people. The flooding time is right at peak working hours, causing traffic congestion in Thanh Vinh market area.
According to the forecast, heavy rain will continue in Da Nang city. Total rainfall is generally 50-150mm, in some places over 200mm. People need to be on guard against the possibility of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying, urban areas, and pay attention to tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
The People's Committee of Da Nang City has also issued a telegram directing departments, branches, sectors and localities to proactively respond to natural disasters in the next 10 days. The City Department of Construction is assigned to implement a flood prevention and control plan.
