Da Nang warns, proactively responds to heavy rain lasting for many days to come

The Da Nang Civil Defense Command warns of local heavy rain in the coming days, possible flooding, flash floods, landslides... Propose proactive response.

Citing the forecast from the Central Hydrometeorological Station, the Da Nang Civil Defense Department said that from October 16 to 25, the Da Nang area will be affected by a low trough with an axis through the South Central region, combined with increased cold air and subtropical high pressure encroaching to the West. It is forecasted that the weather will have complicated developments, with the possibility of moderate to heavy rain, especially on October 19-21 and 24-25.

Localized heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides in steep slopes. During thunderstorms, beware of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. In the face of dangerous weather developments, the Da Nang City Civil Defense Command requires units and localities to proactively deploy response plans.

The armed forces, departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, communes, and wards need to seriously implement the direction of the City People's Committee on natural disaster prevention, overcoming the consequences of storm No. 10 and floods after the storm. The projects under construction must have measures to prevent flooding, clear the flow, and ensure the safety of neighboring residential areas.

The People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones are required to promptly notify people about the weather situation, mobilize people to clear canals and water intake gates; review areas at risk of landslides, and prepare evacuation plans when necessary.

The Department of Construction coordinates with relevant units to inspect drainage and flood prevention systems in urban areas. The Department of Agriculture and Environment guides the assurance of agricultural production safety. The tourism industry is required to inform and warn accommodation establishments and tourist areas, ensuring safety for tourists when heavy rain occurs.

Units managing lakes and dams must increase monitoring, regulate appropriately, and promptly inform downstream areas to proactively prevent and ensure the safety of works and people.
