Over the past month, Binh Dinh has suffered continuous heavy rains, causing flooding and landslides in many localities, with estimated damage of about 112 billion VND.

Due to heavy rains in 2024 and the impact of previous natural disasters, many structures in Binh Dinh have deteriorated and been damaged, and key points continue to be eroded.

In Van Canh district, serious landslides are at risk of eroding deep into residential areas; the embankment along Ha Thanh river (Canh Thuan commune) collapsed, affecting 2 residential houses; the Ngu Thuy bank in hamlet 1 (Canh Vinh commune) collapsed 1,000m, causing erosion of productive land, affecting 140 households living near the area.

In Phu Cat district, the Suoi Deo bank in Cat Hung commune has been weakened by natural disasters and continues to erode with a length of about 2,400m.

The canals of Binh Dinh Province Irrigation Works Exploitation Company, which were already degraded due to natural disasters, continue to be eroded and damaged.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, localities have proactively temporarily repaired landslide-affected traffic routes, vehicles have resumed normal circulation; supported people to overcome landslides and stabilize their lives.

Binh Dinh province proposed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to support 76 billion VND to overcome damage, ensure people's safety and infrastructure for production.

Recently, many rains lasting from December 10 to 15 caused nearly 6,000 hectares of newly sown rice to be flooded and caused landslides in some areas in the province.

Heavy rain caused landslides on the slope of the Nhon Hoi - Nhon Hai road repair and upgrade project (invested by the Binh Dinh Economic Zone Management Board) with a length of about 40m; landslides of 25m of the stream bank in Hoai Chau Bac commune (Hoai Nhon town).
