Water levels of hydropower reservoirs nationwide on July 16th

Many large hydropower reservoirs across the country are lower than the normal water level, Hoa Binh Hydropower operates 1 deep discharge gate.

According to reservoir operation data, at 12:00 on July 16, in the Northwest area, Hoa Binh Hydropower reservoir recorded an upstream water level of 103.71 m, 13.29 m lower than the normal water level (117 m). The water flow to the reservoir reached 3,904 m3/s, while the total discharge flow was 4,403 m3/s, including 1,542 m3/s through the spillway and 2,861 m3/s through the plant. The reservoir is operating 1 deep discharge gate.

Son La Hydropower Lake has a water level of 196.24 m, 18.76 m lower than the normal water level (215 m). Water inflow to the lake reached 3,966 m3/s, total discharge flow of 3,275 m3/s.

Lai Chau Lake recorded a water level of 280.72 m, 14.28 m lower than the normal water level (295 m). Water inflow to the lake reached 1,647 m3/s, total discharge volume 1,490 m3/s.

At Huoi Quang Lake, the water level reached 368.8 m, only 1.2 m lower than the normal water level (370 m). Ban Chat Lake reached 461.15 m, 13.85 m lower than the normal water level (475 m).

In the Northeast area, Tuyen Quang reservoir has a water level of 103.9 m, 16.1 m lower than the normal water level (120 m). The inflow to the reservoir reached 746 m3/s, almost equivalent to the total discharge volume of 742.66 m3/s.

In the North Central region, Trung Son Lake has a water level of 150.07 m, about 0.07 m higher than the dead water level but still 9.93 m lower than the normal water level (160 m). Khe Bo Lake reaches 64.53 m, only 0.47 m away from the normal water level.

In the Central Highlands region, Ialy Hydropower reservoir has a water level of 497.8 m, 17.2 m lower than the normal water level (515 m). The water flow to the reservoir reaches 535 m3/s, currently no discharge flow has been generated.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on July 16, the Northern region will have showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially mountainous and midland areas will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain. Rain concentrated in the late afternoon, night and early morning. The delta area will have intermittent sunshine during the day with the highest temperature around 32 - 34 degrees Celsius.

The Central region will be sunny during the day, with hot sun in some places with the highest temperature around 32 - 35 degrees Celsius.

The Southern region has showers and thunderstorms in some places; especially in the afternoon and evening there are scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some places.
