Many hydropower reservoirs across the country are at lower levels than normal water levels, and power plants are mainly operating for power generation.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 9:00 am on May 4, in the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang Lake had an upstream water level of 110.47m, lower than the normal water level by 120m. The water flow to the lake is about 50 m3/s, currently no discharge has occurred through the plant or overflow.

In the Northwest region, reservoirs on the Da River system continue to generate electricity. Lai Chau Lake reached a water level of 293.99m, inflow to the reservoir 313 m3/s but has not been discharged.

Ban Chat Lake has a flow rate of 69 m3/s, no discharge has been generated. Huoi Quang Lake generates electricity with a flow rate of 31 m3/s. Son La Lake recorded a flow rate of 472 m3/s, currently generating electricity with a total discharge rate of 1,583 m3/s.

Hoa Binh Lake generates electricity at 731 m3/s; Thac Ba Lake generates electricity at 70.26 m3/s.

The North Central region recorded low water flow at many lakes. Trung Son Lake has a flow rate of 100 m3/s but has not been discharged. Ban Ve Lake reached a water level of 184.3m, a flow rate of 122 m3/s, and has not generated electricity.

Khe Bo Lake alone generates electricity with a discharge flow of 170.1 m3/s. Quang Tri Lake has a very low water flow, only about 2 m3/s.

In the South Central Coast, water inflows to reservoirs continue to be limited. A Vuong, Song Bung 2, Song Bung 4, and Song Tranh 2 reservoirs have low inflows and have not yet generated discharge.

Some power generation reservoirs with small flow rates such as Vinh Son A (7.97 m3/s), Song Hinh (15.22 m3/s) and Song Ba Ha (120 m3/s).

The Central Highlands region has some power generation reservoirs with average flow rates. Thuong Kon Tum discharges 26.52 m3/s; Pleyrong discharges 119 m3/s; Se San 4 discharges 480 m3/s.

Some reservoirs such as An Khe, Srepok 3, Buon Kuop have discharged through spillways or opened deep discharge gates but with small flow. Many other reservoirs have not yet generated discharge.

In the Southeast region, Tri An reservoir recorded a water flow to the reservoir of 120 m3/s and is generating electricity with a discharge flow of 480 m3/s through the plant.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 4, the weather in the North will maintain a cloudy state, with moderate rain at night, in some places heavy to very heavy rain with thunderstorms, scattered rain during the day, cool weather with a common temperature of 19-29 degrees C; Hanoi alone fluctuates around 20-29 degrees C.

The Central region from Thanh Hoa to Hue has scattered showers and thunderstorms at night and in the morning, sunny days, temperatures around 27-30 degrees C; the South Central Coast region is sunny, in some places above 33 degrees C, local thunderstorms in the evening. The Central Highlands is sunny during the day, showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening, highest temperature 31-34 degrees C.

The weather in the South continues to be sunny during the day, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, the common temperature is 32-35 degrees Celsius; in Ho Chi Minh City about 32-34 degrees Celsius. During thunderstorms, areas are likely to experience tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
