According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 10:00 AM on May 2nd, at Son La hydropower reservoir in Son La, the upstream water level reached 205.85m, 9.15m lower than the normal water level (215m). The water flow to the reservoir is about 252 m3/s.
Meanwhile, Hoa Binh hydropower reservoir recorded an upstream water level of 108.78m, 8.22m lower than the normal water level (117m). Inflow to the reservoir reached 651 m3/s; total discharge volume 644 m3/s, entirely through power generation.
In the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang Lake has a water level of 110.29m, with a water inflow to the lake of about 50 m3/s. Currently, the lake has not discharged water, and will continue to store water for operation in the near future.
Many other lakes in the area still have water levels lower than the design threshold. Lai Chau Lake reached a water level of 292.74m, with a water inflow to the lake of 211 m3/s.
Ban Chat and Huoi Quang reservoirs also recorded low flow rates, 37 m3/s and 5 m3/s respectively, and no regulating discharge has occurred.
At Thac Ba Lake, the upstream water level reached 51.59m, significantly lower than the normal water level of 58m. The water flow to the lake reached 75 m3/s, the lake is in a state of water storage, not yet discharged.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 2nd, the Northern region will have showers and thunderstorms in some places, sunny skies in the afternoon; especially the Lai Chau, Dien Bien, and Lao Cai areas will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in the morning, with locally heavy rain.
The Southern region is sunny during the day, with hot sun in some places, especially the East has hot sun, scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening.
