Many hydropower reservoirs across the country are still lower than the normal water level; some large reservoirs such as Son La and Hoa Binh generate electricity with high discharge through plants.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 9:00 AM on May 1st, in the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang Lake recorded an upstream water level of 110.19 m, nearly 10 m lower than the normal water level. The inflow to the lake reached about 100 m3/s, and no regulating discharge activities have occurred.

In the Northwest region, many large reservoirs maintain power generation. Son La Hydropower Reservoir has a water level of 205.91 m, a flow rate of 110 m3/s and is generating electricity with a discharge rate of 349 m3/s.

Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir reached 108.98 m; water flowing to the reservoir is 505 m3/s, the total discharge through the plant is up to 1,028 m3/s.

Lai Chau, Ban Chat, Huoi Quang and Thac Ba reservoirs have average water flow to the reservoirs and have not yet had to discharge for regulation.

In the North Central region, most reservoirs have not discharged water. Trung Son and Ban Ve reservoirs recorded water inflows to the reservoirs of 134 m3/s and 48 m3/s respectively. Khe Bo reservoir is currently generating electricity with a discharge flow of 168 m3/s.

In the South Central Coast, the water level of reservoirs is generally lower than the normal water level. Some reservoirs operate power generation at a moderate rate such as Vinh Son A, Song Ba Ha and Song Hinh with discharge flows from a few dozen to more than 100 m3/s.

In the Central Highlands, many reservoirs maintain power generation with large flows. Ialy Hydropower Reservoir discharges 235 m3/s through the plant; Se San 4 Hydropower Reservoir discharges 457 m3/s – a high level in the region.

Some other reservoirs such as Se San 3A, Pleyrong, Thuong Kon Tum, Don Duong, and Da Mi are also operating for power generation with significant flow.

In the Southeast region, Tri An Hydropower reservoir has a water level of 58.07 m, nearly 4 m lower than the normal water level; the inflow to the reservoir reached 120 m3/s and has not been discharged.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 1st, the Northern region will be sunny during the day. The highest temperature is commonly 28 - 31 degrees C. The night and morning will be cool with the lowest temperature around 20 - 23 degrees C, mountainous areas in some places below 20 degrees C.

The Southern region is sunny during the day, especially the East has hot sun.
