According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 10:00 AM on May 7, in the Northwest region, Son La hydropower reservoir had an upstream water level at an elevation of 204.57m, 10m lower than the normal water level of 215m. The water flow to the reservoir reached 281m3/s, the total discharge through the plant was at 1,948m3/s.
Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir recorded upstream water level at an elevation of 107.67m, nearly 10m lower than the normal water level of 117m. Water flow to the reservoir reached 1,246m3/s, while the total discharge through power generation reached 2,815m3/s.
In the same area, Lai Chau Lake reached an elevation of 294.17m, close to reaching the normal water level of 295m. Huoi Quang Lake is at 369.4m, only about 0.6m lower than the normal water level.
In the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang Lake recorded a water level of 110.28m, the water flow to the lake reached 135m3/s and the total discharge through the plant was nearly 130m3/s. Thac Ba Lake is currently at an altitude of 51.65m, 6m lower than the normal water level.
In the North Central region, Khe Bo Lake is at 64.32m, approaching the normal water level of 65m. Trung Son Lake reaches an elevation of 156.77m, while Ban Ve Lake is at 184.21m, about 16m lower than the normal water level.
The South Central Coast region recorded many hydropower reservoirs with low inflows. A Vuong reservoir has inflows of just over 21m3/s, Song Bung 2 reservoir reaches 3.33m3/s. Meanwhile, Song Ba Ha reservoir discharges through the plant 120m3/s, Song Bung 4 reservoir discharges 45m3/s for power generation.
In the Central Highlands, some hydropower reservoirs are still maintaining operation with significant discharge flow. Pleiku reservoir discharges through the plant 121m3/s, Se San 4 reservoir discharges 160m3/s. Notably, Srepok 3 reservoir is opening 2 deep discharge gates with a discharge flow through the spillway of 0.78m3/s.
In the Southeast region, Tri An reservoir has an upstream water level of 57.76m, water inflow to the reservoir at 170m3/s and total discharge through the plant reaching 357m3/s.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 7, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have showers and thunderstorms in some places; from tomorrow evening, it will be cloudy, with rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain. The meteorological agency warns of the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
