Many hydropower reservoirs across the country are still lower than the normal water level, the reservoirs mainly generate electricity and do not have to discharge overflows.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 12:30 pm on May 5, in the Northern region, the reservoirs on the Da River system continued to operate power generation with high flow.

Hoa Binh Lake recorded water inflow to the lake reaching 2.138 m3/s; total discharge through the plant was 2.131 m3/s, the upstream water level was 108.48 m, lower than the normal water level by 117 m.

Son La Lake discharged 1,793 m3/s through the plant, the water flow to the lake reached 126 m3/s, the water level was at 205.15 m. Lai Chau Lake discharged 518 m3/s; Tuyen Quang Lake discharged 129.47 m3/s.

Ban Chat, Huoi Quang and Thac Ba reservoirs have not yet generated electricity, showing that the reservoir system in the Da River basin is still operating stably and has not generated overflow demand.

In the North Central region, Trung Son reservoir discharged 81 m3/s; Khe Bo reservoir discharged 168.1 m3/s. Ban Ve and Quang Tri reservoirs have not discharged due to low water flow to the reservoirs.

The South Central Coast region recorded many sluggish power generation reservoirs, including A Vuong discharging 14 m3/s, Song Bung 4 discharging 48 m3/s, Vinh Son A discharging 10.11 m3/s, Song Ba Ha discharging 120 m3/s and Song Hinh discharging 19.03 m3/s; the remaining reservoirs have not yet discharged for regulation.

In the Central Highlands, Se San 4 reservoir discharged 660 m3/s – the highest level in the region. Pleikrông reservoir discharged 120 m3/s; Thượng Kon Tum discharged 26.52 m3/s; Buôn Kuốp discharged 15.65 m3/s. An Khê and Srêpốk 3 reservoirs have opened discharge gates but the flow is still small.

In the Southeast region, Tri An reservoir recorded a flow to the reservoir of 130 m3/s, with a total discharge output of 235 m3/s.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 5, the Northern region will have showers and thunderstorms in some places; sunny skies with reduced clouds in the afternoon. The highest temperature is commonly 27 - 30 degrees C, in some places above 30 degrees C.

The Southern region in the late afternoon and evening has scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain, showers and thunderstorms in some places at night, sunny days.
