As of 9:00 a.m. on November 25, 2025, according to an update from Vietnam Electricity Group, Hoa Binh Lake recorded upstream water levels at elevation of 116.65 m; water flow to the lake reached 357 m3/s; total discharge was 920 m3/s.
Implementing the inter-reservoir operation process in the Red River basin, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant closed the bottom spillway at 9:00 p.m. on November 24, 2025. After closing the spillway, the water flow downstream is about 1,500m3/s.
At Tuyen Quang Lake, by 9:00 a.m. on November 25, the upstream water level reached 119.37 m; the water flow to the lake reached 166 m3/s; the total discharge was 375.66 m3/s.
Implementing the inter-reservoir operation process on the Red River basin, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant has closed 1 bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant, currently only maintaining power generation through generators.
As of 9:00 a.m. on November 25, Son La Lake recorded upstream water levels at 215.03 m; water flow to the lake was 1,019 m3/s; total discharge was 1,345 m3/s. Currently, Son La Hydropower Plant has closed all bottom spillways, only maintaining power generation through generators to regulate the flow downstream.
At Lai Chau Lake, as of 9:00 a.m. on November 25, the upstream water level reached 294.8m; the water flow to the lake reached 1,147m3/s; the total discharge was 1,045m3/s. Currently, Lai Chau Hydropower Plant has also closed all spillways and surface spillways, only operating power generation through generators.
A similar situation occurred at Thac Ba Lake, where the upstream water level reached 58.07m; the water flow to the lake reached 141m3/s; the total discharge was 366.01m3/s. Currently, Thac Ba Hydropower Plant is maintaining 2 floodgates.
Up to this point, most large hydroelectric reservoirs in the North have simultaneously closed to release water, showing that the water source situation has stabilized, creating conditions to ensure safety downstream and maintain stable power production.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that today, November 25, the Northern and North Central regions are generally free of rain, cold weather, and some mountainous areas in the North are very cold.
Due to the influence of cold air combined with disturbances in the high-altitude East wind zone, in the areas of Hue, Da Nang and the east of Quang Ngai province, there will be rain, showers, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The Southern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms at night; sunny during the day.
