Hydropower project in Lao Cai honked for environmental violations

Lao Cai - Quang Dat Company Limited was fined for implementing a hydropower project without a decision approving the environmental impact assessment report.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province has just issued a decision to administratively fine Quang Dat Company Limited VND 350 million for violations.

The enterprise is headquartered in Che Tao commune, the General Director and legal representative is Mr. Pham Van Doat.

According to the authorities, Quang Dat Company Limited has implemented the construction of the De Dinh Mao Hydropower Investment Project but has not yet issued a decision approving the results of the appraisal of the environmental impact assessment report (EIA) under the authority of the People's Committee of Lao Cai province.

Violations of the provisions of Point c, Clause 1, Article 13 of Decree 45/2022/ND-CP of the Government on administrative sanctions in the field of environmental protection.

For this violation, the company was administratively fined VND 350 million and suspended from construction of the hydropower project for 9 months.

Enterprises must pay fines at the State Treasury of Region IX. In case of late payment, the company will be subject to enforcement according to regulations; for each late payment day, an additional 0.05% will be calculated on the total amount of unpaid fines.
