According to updates from Vietnam Electricity Group, as of January 3, 2026, Tuyen Quang Hydropower reservoir recorded an upstream water level of 119.85m, almost equal to the normal water level of 120m. Water flow to the reservoir reached 248 m3/s, total discharge flow was 565.04 m3/s, all through the plant, no overflow discharge.
In the Northwest region, many large reservoirs also maintain high water levels. Lai Chau Lake has an upstream water level of 294.11m, close to the normal water level of 295m, with a total discharge flow of 596 m3/s. Ban Chat Lake reaches 474.81m, close to the normal water level of 475m, low flow to the reservoir (39 m3/s), total discharge 118 m3/s.
Ho Huoi Quang recorded a water level of 368.31m, slightly lower than the normal water level of 370m, while the total discharge flow reached 303 m3/s.
Son La Lake has a water level of 214.99m, close to the normal water level of 215m, the water flow to the lake is large (1,490 m3/s), total discharge flow is 876 m3/s.
At Hoa Binh reservoir, the upstream water level reached 116.61m, approaching the normal water level of 117m, total discharge flow of 789 m3/s.
Meanwhile, Thac Ba Lake maintains a water level of 57.81m, close to the normal rising water level of 58m, and currently does not discharge water.
According to the latest weather forecast from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today, January 3rd, the Northern region will have light rain in some places. Cold weather, severe cold in mountainous areas, severe cold in some places. High mountainous areas should be wary of frost.
The area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang city and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will have rain, showers; locally there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms.
