On October 22, Tri An Hydropower Company (Dong Nai Electricity Group) announced the third spillway to regulate the Tri An Hydropower reservoir.
According to the announcement, at 7:00 a.m. on October 22, the water level of Tri An Lake reached 61.77m (safe elevation is 62m).
Meanwhile, the water flow into the lake is 1,120 m3/second. It is expected that in the next 1 to 2 days, the water flow into the lake will be from 1,100 to 1,200 m3/second.
The downstream water level at the factory is 4.7m; the downstream water level of Dong Nai River at Bien Hoa hydrological station is 1.73m; the water flow through the power turbine is 800 m3/second.
Based on the fact that the water level downstream of the Dong Nai River at the Bien Hoa hydrological station has passed the peak of the high tide, is below the first alarm level and will decrease rapidly in the coming days, and at the same time, to ensure that the water level of Tri An Hydropower Reservoir does not exceed the normal water level of 62m, Tri An Hydropower Company will discharge water through the reservoir's regulating spillway at 10:00 a.m. on October 22 with the water flow through the spillway from 160 m3/s to 320 m3/s; the water flow through the power generation turbine from 640 m3/s to 800 m3/s.
Total water discharge downstream from 800 m3/s to 1,120 m3/s.
Speaking to Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Vo Tan Nhan - Director of Tri An Hydropower Company said that depending on the weather, water level of Tri An Hydropower Reservoir, water level downstream of Bien Hoa hydrological station, the company can change the water flow through the spillway from 1-2 spillways.
Tri An Hydropower Plant was inaugurated and put into operation in 1991. Currently, the plant has 4 units, with a total designed capacity of 400MW. This is the largest hydropower project in the Southern region, contributing greatly to the national grid, helping to regulate water sources for daily life, production, repelling salinity and regulating floods for downstream areas.
