On October 8, the Center for Management and Operation of Irrigation Works announced that it will discharge floodwater from the Da Den Reservoir from October 8. This is the fourth time the reservoir has discharged floodwater in 2024.
According to the Centre, the weather forecast shows that there will be widespread heavy rain in the Ba Ria - Vung Tau area, with some places experiencing very heavy rain in the evening and at night. Therefore, to ensure the safety of irrigation works and proactively protect property and lives in the affected areas, the Centre will discharge floodwaters for 11 days, from October 8 to October 18.
The flood discharge plan has been announced to localities to be proactive in production, not to fish in the downstream area of the project being discharged. At the same time, households producing along both banks of the Dinh River from behind Da Den Lake to Ben Suc area should proactively avoid being affected.
Areas that may be affected by the flood discharge include: Chau Pha (Phu My town), Tan Hung, Long Huong, Hoa Long, Phuoc Hung, Phuoc Hiep (Ba Ria city), Nghia Thanh (Chau Duc district).
It is known that Da Den Lake is located in Chau Duc district and Phu My town, with a basin area of about 149km2, and a capacity of about 33.4 million m3 of water. This is the most important irrigation project in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, both providing domestic water and irrigation for thousands of hectares of agricultural land in the area.
