Traffic congestion at intersections in Binh Duong

DƯƠNG BÌNH |

The intersection of Huynh Van Luy Street and My Phuoc Tan Van Street has become a famous traffic jam spot in Binh Duong.

According to records, recently the congestion problem at the intersection of Huynh Van Luy and My Phuoc Tan Van streets (in Phu My and Phu Loi wards, Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province) has become increasingly serious. During rush hours (morning from 6am to 8am and afternoon from 4pm to 6pm), this area often experiences congestion.

Huynh Van Luy Street has only 4 lanes connecting from National Highway 13 to Binh Duong New City and Binh Phuoc Province (considered an inter-provincial road). However, this route is becoming increasingly narrow compared to the volume of transit vehicles passing through here. In addition, the rapid urban development also creates pressure on the traffic infrastructure of this route.

Every day, during rush hours, cars line up in two long lines on Huynh Van Luy Street. Motorbikes have to weave in and out of the middle to cross the street, or climb onto the sidewalk to move forward. This creates dangerous traffic situations, with the risk of accidents.

Meanwhile, My Phuoc Tan Van road is one of the main traffic routes of Binh Duong province. There is no toll station on this road, so most of the vehicles transporting goods pass through here. The section through Thu Dau Mot has only 6 lanes.

During the day, the volume of vehicles carrying goods on My Phuoc Tan Van road often suffers from long traffic jams when reaching the intersection with Huynh Van Luy road.

Traffic often weaves through intersections. Vehicles turning left at these intersections often have difficulty moving and are at higher risk of collision.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hiep (44 years old, living in Thu Dau Mot city) said: "I often go back and forth through this intersection. I see that the urban development speed is very fast and the traffic flow is too large. I think that at the intersections with My Phuoc Tan Van, we need to soon invest in overpasses or underpasses to reduce congestion and limit the risk of traffic accidents."

To solve the congestion at the above intersection, Binh Duong province currently has 2 related projects. That is the Binh Duong province public transport infrastructure improvement project to build 6 overpasses/underpasses at the intersections across My Phuoc Tan Van road.

According to the People's Committee of Binh Duong province, ODA capital will be used for this project. The province is currently discussing with partners and funding organizations to agree on an investment plan.

In addition, there is an investment plan to complete My Phuoc Tan Van road - expanding the section through Thu Dau Mot city from 6 lanes to 10 lanes. According to the People's Committee of Binh Duong province, the province has assigned relevant units to conduct a pre-feasibility study report for the investment project to complete My Phuoc Tan Van road under the PPP form. After completing the documents according to regulations, the report will be submitted to the People's Committee of Binh Duong province for consideration and decision.
