On September 13, the Steering Committee for Civil Defense of Nghe An province said that it had just issued Official Dispatch No. 50/CD-BCH-SNNMT on responding to tropical depressions in the East Sea, requesting localities, departments, and branches to deploy plans to prevent heavy rain, floods, inundation, flash floods and landslides.
According to forecasts, on the evening and night of September 13, the tropical depression is likely to enter the mainland area from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri. From the night of September 13 to the day of September 15, the North Central region will continue to have heavy rain, especially in the South of Nghe An - Ha Tinh, there will be very heavy rain in some places, common rainfall of 70-150mm, in some places over 200mm.
Faced with the above developments, in the delta area, Nghe An requested localities to review places at risk of deep flooding, unsafe houses; inspect key dyke locations, proactively drain buffer water, prevent waterlogging, protect production, residential areas and infrastructure.
For mountainous areas, the shock force must review residential areas along rivers and streams, where there is a risk of flash floods and landslides to be ready to relocate people.
Localities must clear the flow, arrange forces at tunnels, spillways, and dangerous roads; do not let people and vehicles pass when safety is not ensured.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Thanh - Head of Nghe An Irrigation Sub-Department said that localities need to closely monitor weather developments, proactively drain buffer water, protect production areas, urban areas, residential areas and strictly maintain duty shifts to promptly handle arising situations.
Along with flood and landslide prevention, Nghe An's agricultural sector is accelerating the harvest progress of summer-autumn - summer-autumn rice. To date, the whole province has harvested more than 38,000 hectares of rice, reaching about 80% of the area.
In Hung Nguyen commune, there are still about 150ha of rice in Hung Tay region that have not been harvested on a total area of 1,200ha. Meanwhile, Yen Thanh commune has completed harvesting 1,100ha, Minh Chau commune has also harvested about 1,000ha of summer-autumn rice, reaching 100%.
The agricultural sector requests localities to take advantage of favorable weather, quickly harvest the area of rice and vegetables that have reached maturity according to the motto "green at home is better than old in the field"; and at the same time inspect and clear the drainage system in low-lying production areas.
Previously, heavy rains at the end of August 2026 caused flooding and landslides in many areas of Nghe An. Therefore, the province requests rescue and relief forces and vehicles to be always ready and strengthen warnings so that people can proactively prevent them.
