Nghe An - Qualified areas under the Vinh International Airport Extension Project must be handed over before August 5.

On August 1, Mr. Hoang Phu Hien - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee said that he had just signed a document requesting departments, branches, and localities to focus maximum forces, accelerate compensation, site clearance and relocation of defense works to serve the project to extend the runway of Vinh International Airport.

Previously, in Document No. 5264/BQP-TM dated July 19, 2026, the Ministry of National Defense agreed to allow the People's Committee of Nghe An province to deploy the construction of items of the project in the defense land area managed by the Air Defense - Air Force Service, in parallel with completing relevant legal procedures.

The Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction, People's Committees of Vinh Hung, Vinh Phu, Nghi Loc communes and wards and military units to organize the handover of defense land on the ground to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) before August 5, 2026.

According to the report of the Department of Construction, Vinh Hung and Vinh Phu wards have completed all land recovery work. Currently, the project still has about 1.01ha in Nghi Loc commune that has not been completed for recovery.

This area includes residential land, garden land of households and defense land belonging to Station K1. The area at Station K1 will be recovered after the project is completed.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned Nghi Loc commune to mobilize the entire political system to strengthen mobilization and dialogue with the people; urgently complete dossiers and plans for compensation, support, resettlement and recover the area under its authority, striving to complete it before August 5.

Vinh Hung and Vinh Phu wards continue to review and thoroughly handle arising issues, not allowing them to affect the progress of site handover.

The Provincial People's Committee requests land handover in a "rolling" manner. Areas that have completed land acquisition, site clearance and are eligible for deployment must be handed over immediately, absolutely not waiting for the entire project to be completed before handing over.

Regarding ACV's proposal to study and complete the parallel taxiway, the Provincial People's Committee assigned units to review design documents, determine the scope of site clearance, land recovery needs, resettlement, defense land and military works that need to be relocated to advise on handling plans.

The Department of Construction is assigned to monitor the implementation of defense restoration projects; coordinate with the Air Defense - Air Force Service to urge the progress of the project to adjust the Rao Truong drainage canal route and the project to build a restoration road section to serve the relocation of Station K1.

The People's Committee of Nghe An province requested ACV to prepare sufficient manpower and vehicles to receive the site and organize construction immediately after handover, ensuring progress, quality and in accordance with legal regulations.
