Faced with the tragic situation of drowning accidents still happening in many places, I am very worried, especially recently there were 5 children drowning and dying in Phu Tho province, yesterday afternoon in Gia Pho commune, Ha Tinh province, there were also 2 children drowning and dying. Therefore, I decided this summer to register my son to learn to swim, and the little girl will learn to swim next year," Ms. Yen shared.
According to Ms. Yen, many parents whose children are in the same class as her son have discussed and agreed to register their children for swimming lessons this summer. Because everyone is worried and uneasy about the continuous drowning incidents that have occurred in recent times.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong (36 years old, residing in Ha Huy Tap ward) has 2 sons, the older one is in 4th grade, the younger one is in 2nd grade. She said that this summer, she registered for both children to learn to swim together.
It is clear that children need to learn to swim, if they are delayed any day, they will still be insecure and worried that day," Ms. Phuong shared.
According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, currently, in the inner city area (old Ha Tinh city), there are quite a few centers organizing swimming lessons for children. Right at Tan Lam Huong Primary School 1 in Ha Huy Tap ward, there has also just been a recruitment announcement for swimming lessons.
The recipients are students studying at Tan Lam Huong Primary School 1 and students in the area who need to learn to swim. The age to receive swimming lessons is from 7 years old or older. The study duration of each course is from 10 - 12 sessions, tuition fee is 800,000 VND/course.
Hao Quang Sports and Entertainment Center (Thanh Sen ward) is also announcing enrollment to teach swimming to children. According to the enrollment management of this center, there are already many courses being organized, and the unit is also receiving new courses. This person said that summer has begun, so the demand for parents to register their children to learn to swim is very high.
The cost of swimming lessons for a 12-session course at Hao Quang Sports and Entertainment Center is 1.2 million VND with a commitment that after the course, children will know how to swim. In case the course ends without knowing how to swim, they will be trained for free until they know how to swim, provided that they are not absent for more than 2 sessions throughout the previous course.
To ensure safety for children, recently, the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee issued a document directing to strengthen communication, education, and dissemination of knowledge and skills to protect children to parents, caregivers, and the community.
Many localities have strengthened propaganda on drowning prevention, placed warning signs prohibiting swimming in deep, dangerous water areas; encouraged organizing swimming lessons for children.
Before the summer vacation, many schools have also organized teaching drowning prevention skills, fire and explosion prevention, and ensuring traffic safety for children.
