According to Lao Dong reporters, until the evening of September 10, many residents in lane 823 Hong Ha (Chuong Duong ward, Hoan Kiem district) were still hurriedly rearranging their furniture on the first floor as floodwaters from the Red River continuously flooded in.
Ms. Le Thanh Thuy (60 years old, living in lane 823 Hong Ha) shared that since noon on September 10, the water level of the Red River has been at alert level 1, causing the amount of water flooding into the lane to increase day by day.
"The water rose into the alley up to half a meter deep, forcing people to hastily pack up important belongings and leave them elsewhere. Since 2002, I have not witnessed the Red River floodwaters overflowing into the alley this high," said Ms. Thuy.
Similarly, Ms. Tran Thi Hoa (Head of residential group No. 11, Chuong Duong ward, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi) informed Lao Dong that since noon on September 10, the flood water level has been continuously rising, and electricity workers of Hoan Kiem district had to go to every alley and lane to check the safety of the power grid before deciding to cut off the power to ensure the safety of the people.
According to Ms. Hoa, only 300m from the Red River, the entire road in lane 823 Hong Ha is now flooded. Many households here are forced to park their vehicles outside and wade into their homes.
