On the afternoon of February 4, Thach Trung Ward Police (Ha Tinh City) handed over the golden monkey to the Mobile Forest Ranger Team and Ha Tinh Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Team to release it back into the natural environment.
Previously, on February 2, residents of Thach Trung ward discovered and captured a male golden monkey weighing more than 10kg in a field in Lien Phu residential group (Thach Trung ward).
Knowing it is a rare animal, needing to be preserved, people have handed over to the functional forces.
Immediately after receiving the animal, the Mobile Forest Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Team of Ha Tinh coordinated with Vu Quang National Park to care for and raise it before releasing it back into the wild.
Golden monkey has the scientific name Macaca mulatta and belongs to group IIB - endangered, precious and rare forest animals.
