On May 19, news from Fire and Rescue Team Area 3 (Fire and Rescue Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police) said that the body of the missing fisherman was found in the sea area of Vinh Yen village, Dai Lanh commune.
According to initial information, on the night of May 18, the Fire and Rescue Team of Area 3 received a report from Dai Lanh Commune Police about a missing person at sea.
Immediately after that, the unit dispatched 1 fire truck and 5 officers and soldiers to the scene to participate in the search and rescue work.
At this time, sea level rose and the search area was wide, so the forces agreed to temporarily stop the search and continue to deploy again the next day.
Initial information said that in the afternoon of May 18, Mr. Bui Van Minh (born 1968) and Mr. Pham Xuan (born 1955, both residing in Tuan Le village, Dai Lanh commune) used a boat to go to the sea area of Vinh Yen village to anchor.
During moving near the shore, the boat's propeller got caught in the net and could not operate. Both then went into the water to cut the net.
A moment later, Mr. Minh got on the boat first but did not see Mr. Xuan come up, so he continued to dive and search but without results.
After that, Mr. Minh called to inform his family and swam ashore to ask local people for help in searching for Mr. Xuan.
