On May 15, Gianh Port Border Guard Station (Command of Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command) said that it is coordinating with forces and fishermen to organize the search for a crew member suspected of falling into the sea and missing when the fishing boat was on its way ashore to sell seafood.
According to initial information, at 9:25 am on the same day, the Border Guard Command of the province received a report from the Gianh Port Border Guard Station on receiving a report from Mr. Phan Chay (born 1950, residing in Dong Trach commune, Quang Tri province).
The news reported that fishing vessel QB-92389-TS has 4 crew members, owned and captained by Mr. Phan Dinh Phung (born 1980), departed from Gianh port on May 6.
At about 3 am on May 15, when the ship was on its way to shore to sell seafood, at coordinates 18°01'00"N - 106°45'04"E, about 24 nautical miles northeast of Gianh estuary, the captain discovered Mr. Phan Manh Hung (born 2001, residing in Dong Trach commune, Quang Tri province), a crew member on board, not on board, suspected of falling into the sea.
Immediately after discovering the incident, the captain ordered the ship to return to the suspected accident area for search but has not found the victim.
After receiving the information, the Provincial Border Guard Command informed the coordinating forces; directed coastal units to inform fishermen and ships operating near the area to coordinate in searching for missing people.
Gianh Port Border Guard Station is also requested to strengthen patrols, inspections and coordinate forces to deploy search and rescue work.
