Construction in progress, 70% customer discount
The entire Ho Dac Di street (Nam Dong ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi) is hundreds of meters long and is littered with paving stones. According to the reporter's records on the morning of November 4, not a single worker appeared at the construction site.
The sidewalk of Ho Dac Di street was dug up, the dust and dirt were everywhere, and the dry weather made the air even more polluted, ruining the urban beauty.
Mr. Bui Quoc Tu - a business owner in Ho Dac Di said that this incident has greatly affected his family's business, causing a serious decrease in revenue.
“This situation started a month ago, the sidewalks are now very bad and dusty. Customers coming here have no place to park, so the number of people has decreased by about 70%.
Everyone is happy because the sidewalk in front of their house will be renovated and cleaner, but the construction is very slow and messy, and we don't know when it will be finished," said Mr. Tu, feeling frustrated.
According to Mr. Tu, when the sidewalk is dug up, it will create garbage collection points, causing a strong, unpleasant stench.
People in other areas who accidentally pass by Ho Dac Di street also feel unsafe because the sidewalk is being repaired, forcing pedestrians to walk on the street.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luan (Thanh Xuan District) said that the density of vehicles moving on this street is very high. When having to go on the road is extremely dangerous, vehicles can easily collide with pedestrians causing traffic accidents.
"Given this situation, I hope the authorities will soon complete the road to contribute to the daily life of the people here," Mr. Luan added.
Complete the sidewalk renovation of Ho Dac Di street before November 30.
On November 5, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Viet Cuong - Deputy Director of the Dong Da District Construction Project Management Board said that Ho Dac Di Street is nearly 700m long, with a total investment of over 3.1 billion VND, of which the construction cost is over 2.2 billion VND, and sidewalk repair work began on October 4.
According to Mr. Cuong, the project is currently implementing the pavement scraping, concrete pouring, and curb laying items. However, during the construction of the pavement paving project on Ho Dac Di Street, due to the obstruction of medium and low voltage power lines and the current situation under the curb, adjustments must be made to suit the reality.
Based on people's feedback, Dong Da District People's Committee has assigned relevant units to conduct inspections to ensure construction quality and traffic safety and order.
"Instruct the Project Management Board to regularly check and resolve arising issues in a timely manner and in accordance with regulations. The responsible units must speed up the completion of the renovation of Ho Dac Di street before November 30, 2024," Mr. Viet Cuong added.
