Many people said that instead of waiting until the last day of the holiday to return to the city, they chose to return to Ho Chi Minh City one day earlier to avoid traffic jam pressure, especially in the city gateway area.

Sharing with reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (from Can Tho) said that he started moving from about 10 am today.
In previous years, I often returned to the city on the last day, so I was very tired from traffic jams. This year, I learned from experience, returned early to travel more conveniently, and have more time to rest before going back to work," Mr. Hai said.
According to Mr. Hai, returning to the city early helps to feel more comfortable, without traffic pressure.


Meanwhile, Ms. Tran Thi Minh (from Vinh Long) said that her family has proactively returned to the city early to take advantage of playing and relaxing more.
From the afternoon of December 31, 2025, my family started leaving the city to return to my hometown, today I took advantage of going up 1 day early to avoid traffic jams and take advantage of tomorrow to visit some places in the city," Ms. Minh said.


According to the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Ho Chi Minh City Police, in order to ensure security and order, traffic safety during the 2026 New Year holiday, the Traffic Police Department has proactively deployed forces, implemented professional measures, arranged officers to be on duty, regulate traffic at key intersections, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety for people.
It is forecasted that in the late afternoon of January 3rd and January 4th - the last day of the 2026 New Year holiday, the number of vehicles pouring into Ho Chi Minh City will continue to increase, in the gateway area, there may be prolonged congestion and traffic jams at many times.
