On the afternoon of August 30, thousands of people from all over flocked to the National Exhibition Fair Center (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi) to visit the National Achievements Exhibition with the theme "80 years of independence - freedom - Happiness", on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2.
The attraction of the special event caused the Truong Sa route and Ly Son road (National Highway 5) - the two main routes leading to the Center to be overloaded.
From early noon, the traffic flow was dense, stretching for many kilometers, causing congestion in both directions. Motorbikes have to squeeze through a long line of cars lining up to move slowly. On Dong Tru Bridge, the situation was similar as vehicles crowded every meter.
Ms. Bui Thi Ha (residing in Long Bien ward, Hanoi) said that the family departed at 12 noon but did not arrive until 3pm.
Just a distance of more than 7km takes 3 hours. There are too many people coming to visit the exhibition, everyone is impatient but still tries to wait to get in, Ms. Ha shared.
Mr. Nguyen Van Son (residing in Vinh Tuy ward, Hanoi) said that the traffic jam appeared from 10am.
"From the Exhibition Center to Vinh Tuy Bridge, the normal distance is only 20 minutes, but today it took me more than 2 hours to complete the move," said Mr. Son.
To reduce traffic pressure, many officers and soldiers of the Traffic Police have been mobilized to hot spots, directly dividing traffic, and guiding people. The authorities had to divide the flow of vehicles to avoid conflicts, and prioritize the path for buses and passenger cars.

As the afternoon went on, the flow of people and vehicles to the Exhibition area increased. A group of people waiting patiently and eagerly waiting to admire the booths displaying the country's socio-economic achievements.
Many families, despite having to endure traffic jams for many hours, still affirmed that this was a memorable experience, because the exhibition was a special occasion to review the tradition and be proud of the achievements of the nation.
The event is expected to continue to attract a large number of people and visitors in the coming days, especially during the National Day holiday on September 2.
Authorities recommend that people should proactively arrange their time, choose public transport to limit traffic congestion and ensure safety when visiting the exhibition.
