In Xuan Son area, Trung Gia commune, the water was about 1km deep, causing National Highway 3 to be cut off. Mr. Ngo Sy Son (driver) said that when he reached Trung Gia commune, the deep floodwaters prevented the vehicle from passing, forcing him to turn around.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Cau (50 years old, Trung Gia commune) shared: "This is the first time I have witnessed such a big flood. I never thought National Highway 3 would turn into a river. Since last night (October 8), the water started to rise, but due to subjectivity, I did not prepare. In the morning, I saw that the water had entered the yard, and the tables, chairs, cabinets and washing machines were now flooded.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Ba Hoang - Chairman of Trung Gia Commune People's Committee - said that since October 8, the Commune People's Committee has coordinated with the soldiers of Battalion 86 and the commune's shock forces to encourage people outside the dike to move to a safe place.
All the elderly, children and part of the people have been taken to shelters. However, due to the rapid rise of floodwaters, many people did not have time to react, causing their property to be submerged in water.
Mr. Pham Viet Hong - Party Cell Secretary, Head of the Front Work Committee of Xuan Son village - said that the village has more than 600 households with more than 3,000 people who are flooded. The local government has mobilized maximum human resources to support people to move their assets up high to avoid flooding.
"There are currently no human casualties, but the property damage is very large, and specific statistics cannot be made," said Mr. Hong.
Also according to the reporter's records, this morning, military and police forces were present to coordinate with the authorities of Trung Gia commune, the commune police and the commune Civil Defense Command to support people in evacuating assets, regulating traffic and taking people through deeply flooded areas.
