The journey from illness to determination to live

In 2017, lung cancer began to bring a series of difficult days to Mr. Phuc. In May 2017, when he felt tired for a long time and coughed a lot, Mr. Phuc went to K Hospital for examination and was diagnosed with stage III lung cancer. The decision to intervene for treatment immediately helped him escape many risks that could seriously affect his health and life.

In July 2017, Mr. Phuc underwent surgery to remove one lung at the Thoracic Surgery Department of K Hospital. He then underwent a long recovery process, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy to prevent recurrence.

In December 2017, just a few months after recovering from lung cancer surgery, Mr. Nguyen Tien Phuc returned to K Hospital in a new role: covering the Required Examination Department. For the past 8 years, he has devoted himself to the work of guiding patients, maintaining security and order, taking care of the landscape, preserving facilities, regardless of day off or early or late.

With a place to live right in the campus, he considers this a second home. The three children have been married in many provinces and cities, so their attachment to colleagues and doctors becomes a great source of encouragement. In the space once associated with harsh treatment days, he found a new meaning of life: serving, sharing and adding confidence to patients struggling with cancer like himself before.

Despite his old age, Mr. Phuc is still tireless and humble with his work, contributing to keeping the hospital safe and friendly. "The work is simple but makes me feel useful, even if I can do it, I will contribute more" - Mr. Phuc said. Patients and family were impressed with the smile, dedication and positive energy that he always spreads.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Phuc's story affirms that cancer is not the end of dreams and social responsibility. His return to work at the same place where he was being treated shows the strength of his faith, his attachment to the hospital and the effectiveness of timely treatment.
