On September 18, speaking to reporters, Ms. T.T.H, a teacher at Nam Can Boarding Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities (Nghe An) said that she had just received a decision to be seconded to a school 35km from her home.
"I presented my situation as suffering from a serious illness, but it was not accepted. The school said that my case is under consideration and not exempted from compulsory leave, Ms. H said, adding that she wanted to return to her old school when the school had enough teachers.
Mr. Lam Nguyen Ngoc - Principal of Nam Can Boarding Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities - confirmed that Ms. T.T.H is a teacher at the school, has had cancer for the past 2 years, but has still been sent to a secondary school according to the decision of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training.
According to Mr. Ngoc, the current law does not stipulate cases where cancer teachers are exempted from secondment. Ms. H is also not in the final stages, and many teachers in the school opposed letting her stay and asking her to take her away. Last year, she still completed her teaching task well.
Responding to the question of why he did not discuss and persuade the teachers to consider special cases or report to the Department of Education and Training, Mr. Ngoc admitted that he did not do it, but instead made a list to the Department as usual, the dispatch location was a school in a favorable area.
Meanwhile, the leader of Nghe An Department of Education and Training said that he would check, review, and request the school to report this incident. The representative of the department affirmed that the document guiding the secondment of teachers clearly stated: units can proactively identify priority subjects that have not yet been seconded, including teachers with serious illnesses according to the list of the Ministry of Health as priority subjects No. 1.
