According to Hanoi Social Insurance, pensioners are the group of subjects whose social insurance fund pays 100% of the health insurance participation fee, with a benefit level of up to 95% of medical examination and treatment costs. Card renewal is done automatically on the data system, people do not have to go through any procedures.
From June 1, the Social Insurance sector has officially stopped issuing paper health insurance cards, switching to using electronic cards displayed on the VssID, VNeID or chip-embedded citizen identification cards (CCCD). With paper cards that are still valid, people can still use them normally when going to the doctor or get treatment.
Recently, some pensioners have reported that the VNeID application displays health insurance cards with a validity of up to December 31, causing them to worry about having to extend them. Hanoi Social Insurance affirmed that this is just an annual technical display, the rights of pensioners are still guaranteed and the card will be automatically extended.
Notably, taking advantage of people's anxiety, many subjects impersonated social insurance officers to call and text to request "expiry of health insurance cards", requesting to provide CCCD numbers, personal information, OTP codes... to "support updates". In fact, this is a trick to appropriate money in bank accounts.
Hanoi Social Insurance affirmed that there is no policy of calling, texting via Zalo, sending links or QR codes to request people to provide personal information. When there is a need to update and adjust information, people need to directly contact the Social Insurance agency or do so through the National Public Service Portal, the Vietnam Social Insurance Public Service Portal or the VssID application. All of these channels are free.
People are advised to absolutely not click on strange links, not to make Zalo friends with people claiming to be social insurance officers, and not to provide passwords or OTP codes to anyone.
For convenient use, the Social Insurance recommends that people integrate their health insurance cards into the VssID and VNeID applications in the " Documents" section, select "Information integration", then enter the health insurance card number and the information of the issuing unit to complete.
