Joining hands to build a rich and beautiful homeland
Ia Lap is a particularly difficult commune in Dak Lak province, located in the border area, about 110 km from the provincial center, with a 1.5 km border bordering Cambodia.
The whole commune has 1,811 households with 6,518 people, of which poor households account for more than 54%, near-poor households account for more than 12%. Ethnic minorities account for over 50% of the population, living in 12 villages and hamlets.
Due to many difficult economic conditions, in the past, some villages still had outdated customs and old lifestyles, affecting the socio-economic development process.
In that context, the role of prestigious people becomes an important pillar of the community.

Mr. Luong Cao Ut (born in 1954), a prestigious person in Ia Lap commune, said that if he did not change his mindset and did not work hard, the villagers would find it difficult to escape poverty.
Therefore, he regularly visits each household to encourage people to limit alcohol, work hard, and maintain family discipline. At the same time, propagate and disseminate laws to people, contributing to ensuring security and order in border areas
In the conversations, he always emphasized: "To escape poverty, first of all, families must love each other, eliminate bad customs, and maintain cultural discipline".
Those simple but sincere advice have gradually changed the awareness of many households.
Ms. Lang Thi Ly (born in 1966) is one of the typical cases.
Despite difficult circumstances, her family still tries to ensure her children's education is complete, while actively growing rice and applying science and technology in production.
She said that it was the encouragement and mobilization of prestigious people that helped the family be more determined to change, towards a more stable life. My children and grandchildren also follow a civilized lifestyle, do not violate the law, or get involved in social evils.
Thanks to the perseverance and exemplary team of village elders and prestigious people, the appearance of many villages in Ia Lap has gradually changed. Security and order are maintained, people are assured of working and producing, houses are more solid, material and spiritual life is increasingly improved.

Prestigious people lead Ia Lap village traders to escape poverty and develop sustainably
According to Mr. Lang Van Tuyen - Secretary of Buon Chieng Party Cell ( Iaiap Commune), in the context of the government apparatus being organized in a streamlined and efficient manner, the role of village heads, village elders and prestigious people becomes even more important.
They are a bridge to help the policies and guidelines of the Party and State reach the people in a familiar and easy-to-understand way.

In recent years, this force has actively coordinated with local authorities to implement the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021-2025.
Thereby, people are gradually abandoning bad customs, boldly applying science and technology to production, changing their way of thinking and working in building a civilized life.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Chairman of Ia Lap Commune People's Committee - affirmed: "Preditable people play a particularly important role in local socio-economic development.
They are people trusted by the people, their words have weight, so the government can help them spread policies and guidelines to ethnic minorities effectively".
In the coming time, Ia Lap commune will continue to expect a team of prestigious people to promote their role in supporting poor and near-poor households to borrow production capital, reviewing social security beneficiaries, implementing poverty reduction policies, vocational training and job creation.

This is considered an important force to help the locality gradually overcome difficulties, towards sustainable development, building increasingly civilized and beautiful villages.
