On the morning of May 25, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center had specific information about the shocking incident when a man overtook a fence to invade the throne at Thai Hoa Palace.
Accordingly, on May 24, at Thai Hoa Palace (Hue Imperial City), Ho Van Phuong T (born in 1983, residing in Huong Long Ward, Phu Xuan District, Hue City) violated the national treasure - the throne of the Nguyen Dynasty.
Around 11h55, T bought tickets to visit the inner city, then showed abnormal expression in the Thai Hoa Palace. Despite being reminded by the security guard, the subject continued to penetrate the throne display area, screaming and breaking the left arm of the throne. The security guard promptly controlled and reported the incident to the Dong Ba Ward Police.
The authorities have drawn up a record of arresting T. However, because the subject showed signs of psychosis, he could not take statements.
According to information from Huong Long Ward Police, T had a previous conviction for violating the law and was once sent to a compulsory drug rehabilitation facility.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Hue City Police is conducting a psychiatric assessment of T.
To protect valuable artifacts, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center has moved the throne to the archaeological warehouse and replaced it with a restoration at Thai Hoa Palace. The center is also implementing security measures, such as installing more surveillance cameras, training security guards and developing emergency situation handling plans.
