After Dai Ngai 2 bridge was restricted from traffic (temporarily serving) on the section from DH.10 intersection to Nam Song Hau National Highway intersection, belonging to the Dai Ngai bridge construction investment project on National Highway 60 in Tra Vinh and Soc Trang provinces (now in Vinh Long province and Can Tho city), a situation occurred where people entering the Cu Lao Dung construction site potentially pose a risk of traffic unsafety.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Trinh Ngoc Tuan - in charge of constructing the Cu Lao Dung section - said that the most crowded time people enter the construction site is around 9-10 am and 4-5 pm. The reason is that many people from Long Phu cross Dai Ngai 2 bridge to Cu Lao Dung and then do not follow the DT.10 route as instructed but run straight into the construction site area (section from DH.10 to the roundabout of Provincial Road 933B).
Mr. Tuan said that currently the unit is gathering soil, building embankments, and pouring concrete to tie the median strip on the route. In particular, Khem Rach Gia bridge is in the process of constructing expansion joints, only temporarily laying corrugated iron sheets to serve material transportation, not yet technically complete. People passing through this area, especially at night, is very dangerous if not carefully observed.
The construction unit has installed signs, fences and gate locks at construction sites. However, there are still cases of people carrying motorbikes across fences, even damaging locks to pass," Mr. Tuan said.
According to Mr. Tuan, this not only causes unsafety for people but also directly affects the construction progress. Due to machinery operating continuously, the visibility of workers operating is limited, so when vehicles pass by, the equipment is forced to stop or operate at a standstill to avoid accidents, disrupting the construction process.

A Dai Ngai 2 bridge construction worker said that the road section from Dai Ngai 2 bridge to Provincial Road 933B, if going straight, is only more than 1.3 km, much shorter than going around along DH.10 to the old Cu Lao Dung town (about 8 km) or having to take a ferry to get to An Thanh 1 commune (old). "That is also why many people choose to take shortcuts to the construction site quickly," this person said.
According to the plan, the construction unit is speeding up the progress to pave asphalt concrete before the Lunar New Year. The Khem Rach Gia bridge expansion joint item will continue to be completed in the near future to ensure safety when put into operation.
Previously, on December 18, Can Tho City People's Committee agreed on a plan to restrict traffic (temporarily serving) Dai Ngai 2 bridge, allowing rudimentary vehicles and cars carrying people under 16 seats to circulate in the direction from National Highway 91B (Nam Song Hau) through District 10 road and the opposite direction.
The City People's Committee requested Project Management Board 85 to fully install a signaling system, coordinate with relevant units to organize traffic, widely inform people; and assign functional forces to regulate traffic, handle overloaded vehicles, and ensure safety during temporary operation.
Dai Ngai 2 bridge belongs to package 11-XL, nearly 900m long, started construction in October 2023 and basically completed in August 2025. At this time, according to the local proposal, the construction unit allows vehicles under 16 seats, trucks under 3.5 tons, motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles to temporarily circulate through the bridge.
However, after 3 days of temporary suspension due to many vehicles entering the approach road section under construction, there is a potential risk of unsafety; some overloaded vehicles even intentionally cross the bridge, even colliding with the height-limited gate.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
