On March 2nd, information from functional agencies said that the initial cause was determined to be that the car's front tire (adjacent side) burst, causing the oil tank to fall down, friction with the road surface emitted sparks leading to fire.
Currently, the Traffic Police force of Krong Buk Station (under the Traffic Police Department of Dak Lak Provincial Police) in coordination with Ea Knuec Commune Police and related units is organizing traffic diversion, determining damage, and continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident.
Previously, at about 7:50 pm on March 1st, at Km6, bypass road in the East of Buon Ma Thuot, a sleeper bus carrying 44 passengers caught fire.
According to initial information, at the above time, driver Phan Tan Nguyen Kha (born 1982, residing in Kon Tum ward, Quang Ngai province) was driving a passenger car in the direction of Dak Lak - Ho Chi Minh City. When reaching Km6 of the eastern bypass of Buon Ma Thuot (section passing through Toan Thang 2 village, Ea Knuec commune, Dak Lak province), the car caught fire fiercely.
Discovering the incident, the driver and assistant driver immediately shouted for help, helped passengers quickly get out of the vehicle and used mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire but were unsuccessful. The fire then spread quickly, covering the entire sleeper bus.
At about 8:15 pm, receiving a report, the Fire and Rescue Police force of Dak Lak Provincial Police were present at the scene, urgently deploying a plan to extinguish the fire. At the scene, the passenger car was burned to a frame.
