The number of people participating in social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance has increased
On the morning of May 29, Vietnam Social Security informed about the situation of ensuring social insurance and health insurance benefits for people in the context of streamlining the organizational apparatus.
In the context of streamlining and organizing activities according to the new apparatus, the Vietnam Social Insurance system always ensures smooth operation, without interruption in the process of resolving policies and regimes for participants and beneficiaries. Accordingly, social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance (UI) benefits of people and businesses are always guaranteed in a timely manner, with shortened procedures, in accordance with regulations...
With the consistent viewpoint of "taking people and businesses as the center, the service object", in the context of streamlining and organizing activities according to the new apparatus, in the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnam Social Insurance continued to achieve positive results in development, ensuring the rights of policy participants and beneficiaries.
The number of people participating in social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance increased compared to the same period in 2024: estimated by the end of May 5.2025, the number of people participating in social insurance reached 19.56 million people, up 12% compared to the same period in 2024; In which: Compulsory social insurance is 17.43 million people (up 8.9%) and voluntary social insurance of 2.13 million (up 46.23%). The number of people participating in unemployment insurance is estimated at 15.7 million (up 9.86%); The number of people participating in health insurance reached 93.56 million people, up 3.24% over the same period in 2024.
The work of paying and settling social insurance and unemployment insurance regimes has been implemented promptly: By the end of May 2025, the entire Vietnam Social Insurance system is estimated to have resolved about: 46,554 people receiving monthly social insurance regimes, an increase of 53.9% over the same period in 2024; 484,994 people receiving one-time social insurance regimes, a decrease of 13.33% over the same period in 2024; nearly 3.6 million people receiving sick leave, maternity, and health recovery regimes; coordinated to resolve about 271,997 people receiving unemployment benefits (TCTN) and 6,094 people receiving vocational training support.
The number of health insurance examinations and treatments increases: It is estimated that by the end of May 2025, Vietnam Social Insurance will pay for nearly 80 million people with health insurance examinations and treatments, an increase of 8.59% over the same period in 2024; the estimated amount of health insurance examinations and treatments spent is 63,324 billion VND, an increase of 15.59% over the same period in 2024.
The number of people receiving pensions since the beginning of the year has increased
Notably, according to Vietnam Social Insurance, the number of people settled to receive pensions in the first months of 2025 increased, with about 27,255 people receiving pensions in the first 4 months of 2025, an increase of 95.47% over the same period in 2024.
The reason is due to the impact of Decree No. 177/2024/ND-CP dated December 31, 2024 and Decree No. 178/2024/ND-CP dated December 31, 2024 of the Government.
In the context of the increasing number of people receiving pensions, units under and directly under Vietnam Social Insurance continue to maintain flexible implementation, organize the review of processes, adjust the software for implementation according to the new organizational model, ensure smoothness, and not affect the rights of beneficiaries. Therefore, the settlement of social insurance benefits for employees is always ensured in a timely manner, in accordance with regulations.
In particular, the number of people receiving one-time social insurance benefits continued to decrease and decrease sharply compared to the same period in 2024 (a decrease of about more than 91,000 people, equivalent to a decrease of 18.8%). This is a positive sign showing that employees are increasingly understanding the meaning, superiority of the policy and benefits when participating in social insurance for 15 years according to the Social Insurance Law 2024.
Thereby, affirming that the Social Insurance Law No. 41/2025/QH15 has come into life right from the time the Law has not yet come into effect and creates more peace of mind for workers, attached to the social security system.
The above positive results are recorded in the context that Vietnam Social Insurance is implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently. These results have demonstrated the efforts to ensure social security rights for people even during the period of many changes in organizational structure.
