Mr. Truong Quang Thuy - Chairman of Huong Long Commune People's Committee - said that on the morning of February 20, Huong Khe District directed the Huong Khe District Construction Investment Project Management Board to fill the sinkhole on District 8 through Huong Long Commune, and the repair is expected to be completed within the day.
Also this morning, the Huong Khe District Investment and Construction Project Management Board transported boulders and sand to fill the sinkhole on District Road 8 in Huong Long Commune, and will re-pave the road surface at the sink point for safe traffic.
According to the leader of the Huong Khe District Investment and Construction Project Management Board, the cause of the sinkhole appeared at this location before the road was a pond, a deep lake, with weak geology. During the process of putting the route into operation, there may be a groundwater flowing below, causing subsidence.
On the afternoon of February 18, people in Hamlet 2, Huong Long Commune discovered a deep hole on District Road 8. Through inspection, the mouth of the hole collapsed about 70cm, the hole was about 4m wide and 1.8m deep. The authorities then put up ropes to block this "death hole" to avoid vehicles entering unsafely.
