Implementing the direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has presided over and coordinated with Ca Mau Urban Environment Joint Stock Company to review and evaluate the situation of waste treatment at 02 landfill pits after the Ca Mau City Waste Treatment Plant closed.

According to the report of Ca Mau Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, the possibility of receiving 02 landfill pits can only be accepted until July 15, 2025.

To ensure waste treatment and limit environmental pollution, the Department of Agriculture and Environment proposes solutions to continue coordinating with Cong Ly Construction - Trade - Tourism Company Limited to review, revise and complete the waste price plan to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration; prepare temporary landfill pits at planned locations; review inter-commune waste treatment planning; at the same time, recommend the Provincial People's Committee to consider and give instructions on temporary waste collection and transportation plans of localities...

People in Ca Mau area are worried about the lack of a waste treatment plant, causing waste to risk being transported to mountains like in the old Bac Lieu province.

In Bac Lieu (old), since the re-establishment of the province (in 1997) until the merger with Ca Mau province (July 1, 2025), this province has not had any waste treatment plant.
All waste of Bac Lieu city before, Vinh Loi district (old), Hoa Dong district (old)... was gathered at Chau Hung commune landfill (old). The garbage kept getting higher and higher like a mountain.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Minh, Tan Tao Hamlet, Vinh Loi Commune, Ca Mau Province, reflected: For the past 28 years, there has been no waste treatment plant. I live nearby, I smell it all the time and I get used to it. Reflecting many times but getting nothing".

In 2014, the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province (old) granted a project investment license to a business to build a waste treatment plant with a capacity of 245 tons of waste/day and night. At the end of 2018, the investor's license was revoked. In 2019, Bac Lieu continued to invite another investor, but for many reasons the project was not implemented.

In July 2024, the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province approved the policy for T-Tech Vietnam Technology Group Joint Stock Company as the investor to implement the project. However, by the date of merging Bac Lieu province with Ca Mau province (July 1, 2025), the project has not yet been implemented.

The reason is the same as Ca Mau province in not being able to issue waste treatment prices, having to wait for the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to issue a unit price technical economic standard for collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste according to regulations.
As reported by Lao Dong, on June 16, Cong Ly Construction - Trading - Tourism Company Limited announced the closure of Ca Mau City Waste Treatment Plant due to many years of losses. Faced with this situation, Ca Mau has "activated" garbage collection points for burial, including building two burial holes on the road to the Ca Mau City Waste Treatment Plant.
In the province alone, the total amount of household waste in the old Ca Mau province is about 628 tons/day. Of which, urban areas are about 255 tons/day, rural areas are about 373 tons/day. In the province, there are 08 units carrying out the work of collecting and transporting household waste, including 07 units transporting it to the Ca Mau City Waste Treatment Plant for treatment and 01 unit transporting waste to bury in Rach Goc town, Ngoc Hien district (old).
