Thoi An flower village is one of the famous places for growing and supplying Tet flowers in Ho Chi Minh City. This year, most gardeners have reduced flower production by 10-20% compared to previous years. According to gardeners, the reason is due to difficult economic conditions, the demand for flowers from traders has decreased over the years and the weather is also unfavorable.
According to Ms. Trinh Thi Kim Lan, owner of Kim Lan flower garden, although the output of flowers has decreased, the quality and care work is still carefully invested. However, she cannot hide her worries about the unusual weather. "The days near Tet, but the sky is still cloudy, with showers, affecting the growth of plants and flower output," Ms. Lan shared.
Currently, gardeners are rushing through the care steps to make the flowers bloom in time for Tet. Popular flowers grown here include large chrysanthemums, crystal chrysanthemums, sunflowers, and gypsophila... All are meticulously cared for, from removing young leaves to mixing soil, fertilizing, and placing pots.
At another garden, Mr. Le Phuoc Lam said that this year, materials, labor costs, seeds, and fertilizers have all increased compared to last year, so flower prices are expected to increase by about 10%. Unstable weather has also caused the cost of flower care to increase significantly. According to Mr. Le Phuoc Lam, his garden is expected to bring about 30,000 pots to the market this Tet, a decrease of more than 10,000 pots compared to last year.
Despite facing many challenges from the economy to the weather, the gardeners in Thoi An flower village still maintain their enthusiasm and optimism. They hope that their carefully tended flower pots will bring beauty to the spring days and attract buyers.
In the difficult context, flower gardeners in Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country hope for favorable weather at the end of the year, flowers blooming in time for Tet, high productivity and a more stable economic situation, so that people and gardeners can have a full Tet.
