On February 18, information from the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district (Thanh Hoa province) said that it had just organized a Disciplinary Council and disciplined 10 individuals with a reprimand, reviewing and drawing experience from 22 individuals.

According to the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district, in August 2023, the district issued a decision approving the list of poor and near-poor households receiving housing support under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction.
The total number of households supported to build new and repair houses is 747 households, with a total cost of more than 21 billion VND. However, when implementing, 178 households were wrongly granted (because the granted amount coincided with other support policies), with a total amount of wrongly granted money of more than 5.4 billion VND.
Immediately afterwards, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province requested Lang Chanh district to recover all the money that was not granted in accordance with regulations and pay it back to the budget.
According to the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district, up to now, communes and towns have recovered and paid to the State budget the amount of 1.4 billion VND due to disbursement and allocation not in accordance with the beneficiaries. The remaining amount cannot be recovered because the households receiving it are all in difficulty... There is no intentional delay, intentional violation of approved program regulations, policies or signs of policy profiteering for family members, relatives, or acquaintances, leading to consequences that are difficult to overcome.
To resolve the above issue, the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district also issued a document requesting the Department of Home Affairs to report to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province to give the locality more time to recover the remaining amount.
