According to reporters, inside the domestic terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport, on the afternoon of January 25, many people lined up at the check-in counters. Passengers with cumbersome luggage patiently waited their turn to check in. However, many passengers had to wait for hours because many flights were continuously delayed.
At the Vietjet lobby, many passengers expressed their disappointment as flights were repeatedly delayed. Some arrived early to avoid the crowds and complete the procedures quickly, but were left waiting in long lines.
The family of Mr. Hoan Vu (Hanoi) shared a rather tiring experience: “We arrived at the airport at 9:00 am to prepare to check in for the flight scheduled to take off at 1:15 pm. But when we arrived, we found out that the flight was delayed. The whole family waited anxiously, then received another notice that the flight was delayed again. It was not until 3:50 pm that we were able to board the plane.”
In the lobby of Vietnam Airlines, many flights also faced similar situations, with some flights being delayed and passengers having to wait longer. At the same time, the airline provided directions to places where food or drinks could be served while waiting.
Regarding flight delays, Tan Son Nhat International Airport informed that this morning, some provinces in the North and Central regions experienced dense fog, limiting visibility and affecting takeoffs and landings, which forced some airlines to change their flight plans to ensure flight safety.
The Port has requested airlines to promptly update information to passengers in case of flight delays or diversions, serve passengers attentively and thoughtfully, and fully fulfill the obligations of airlines to passengers.
Also according to a representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, on January 25, Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC) is expected to serve 927 flights with more than 145,000 passengers, a decrease compared to yesterday and this number will continue to decrease until the 29th of Tet.
After Tet, from the 1st to the 6th, there are 830 to 900 flights/day. The highest day is 917 flights (the 5th) and the lowest day is 832 flights (the 1st of January).
Tan Son Nhat International Airport has implemented many measures to ensure passenger service during the peak period of Tet. The airport continuously coordinates with operating units to coordinate appropriately, increase personnel in key areas and closely monitor the operation plan during peak hours.
During peak hours from 3-5am and 7-10am, it is predicted that there will be a lot of domestic passengers checking in, so the airport has increased staff to avoid congestion.
In addition, the airport also requires regular monitoring of the domestic baggage conveyor area to ensure that baggage is released promptly, avoiding congestion during peak times.
