Large-scale review for the purpose of ensuring fire and explosion safety
Recently, Hanoi City Police issued Plan No. 83/KH-CAHN-ANKT on inspecting the compliance with the law for business organizations and individuals in the area. This is a specific step to concretize the direction of the Ministry of Public Security to comprehensively assess state management work, focusing on fire prevention and fighting (PCCC) and security and order (ANTT).
According to the plan, in the second quarter of 2026 alone, functional forces are expected to inspect nearly 10,000 businesses, business households, and individual businesses in the area. This is considered one of the largest-scale general reviews recently in the Capital. Through inspection, the City Police will promptly identify loopholes in management to rectify, and at the same time strictly handle violations to ensure the rule of law.
Notably, the City Police leadership affirmed that the inspection process must be absolutely transparent, within its authority and not cause harassment or trouble for businesses.
Businesses and business households proactively complete fire prevention and fighting work
Recorded at units on the inspection list, the spirit of proactive prevention is being pushed up. At a bank transaction office on Xa Dan street, fire prevention and fighting is identified as a vital task. Due to the environmental characteristics of many flammable materials such as documents, curtain fabric and dense electrical equipment systems, this unit not only equips full on-site fire fighting equipment and fire and explosion insurance but also focuses on periodic fire prevention and fighting skills drills for employees.
Notably, during the actual inspection in early April, although highly appreciated for the actual safety conditions, this unit was still reminded about some shortcomings in the fire prevention and fighting records. Immediately, the facility representative seriously learned from experience, deployed and completed the missing procedures in accordance with regulations, showing a spirit of receptiveness and respect for the law.
In alleys, where many food service businesses are concentrated, people's awareness has also clearly changed. Ms. Hong, manager of a restaurant at No. 19 Nguyen Ngoc Vu alley 171 (Yen Hoa ward) shared that due to the characteristic of using large-capacity stoves and air conditioners, the establishment always has to strictly control the electrical system to avoid overload during peak hours. Currently, the store has fully equipped commands, fire extinguishers and anti-poison masks, and regularly reminds employees of fire prevention and fighting procedures.

During the peak inspection, proactiveness came not only from the units on the inspection list. Typically, the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Van (Phuong Liet ward) with a model of housing combined with renting rooms. Although not named in the review list, Mr. Van still proactively invested in methodical infrastructure such as building smoke barriers, installing fire alarm systems and tightening electrical safety rules for tenants. Such proactive models have made an important contribution to reducing the risk of fires and explosions in crowded residential areas, small alleys - which are areas with many potential risks.
Key role of propaganda work
Besides the positive points, the actual review still recorded that some business establishments need to update more information and regulations on fire prevention and fighting. For example, at a clothing store in alley 189 Nguyen Ngoc Vu (Yen Hoa ward), although fire extinguishers have been equipped and the risk of fire and explosion is recognized, some aspects of the fire prevention system are still not completely complete because they do not fully grasp the new regulations. This shows that the role of propaganda and close guidance of functional forces in the area is still very important.
In the context of Hanoi entering an extreme heat wave, the pressure on the power system is increasing, the implementation of Plan 83 of the City Police is a "push" to create a strong change in awareness. When there is a combination of drastic inspection work from functional agencies and self-awareness from each individual and business, the goal of protecting the lives and property of the people and ensuring the sustainable development of the Capital is truly sustainable.
