As of the afternoon of February 20 (4th day of Tet), the Lunar New Year holiday still has 2 days left, but before concerns about traffic congestion that may occur at the end of the holiday, many people have chosen to return to Hanoi earlier than planned.
Recorded by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters at about 2 pm on February 20, the number of vehicles from Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh provinces... moving on the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway towards the center of Hanoi gradually increased.
In general, vehicles still circulate quite smoothly, and there has been no localized congestion.
At key intersections in the southern gateway area of the Capital, functional forces are arranged to be on duty to regulate, divert traffic and promptly handle arising traffic incidents.

At about 11 am on February 20, Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha (35 years old) with her husband and 2 children departed from Hac Thanh ward (Thanh Hoa) to return to Hanoi two days earlier than expected compared to the holiday schedule.
According to Ms. Ha, the family traveled more than 150km in nearly 3 hours. On the Mai Son - National Highway 45, Hanoi - Ninh Binh and Phap Van - Cau Gie highways, the traffic situation is quite smooth, and travel is convenient.
Ms. Ha added that, due to predictions that the number of vehicles pouring into the Capital tomorrow may increase, leading to the risk of congestion at gateway routes, her family decided to return early even though the holiday still has time.
Returning to Hanoi first also helps family members have more time to rest and prepare for the upcoming working and studying days.
For the last 2 days of the weekend, my husband and I plan to take our children to play in some places in the city before they return to school," Ms. Ha shared.

It is forecasted that in the next two days (5th and 6th days of Tet), the traffic situation will heat up at the gateway routes leading to Hanoi when people will flock back to the city after the Lunar New Year holiday.
Functional forces recommend that people need to be proactive in their travel time, avoid going during peak hours at gateway routes. Vehicle drivers must comply with traffic rules, do not drive after drinking alcohol, do not speed or overtake recklessly.
Passenger transport vehicles need to strictly comply with traffic safety regulations, not carrying more than the prescribed number of people, ensuring safety for passengers on their journey to the Capital.
When people detect violations of traffic safety and order, they can send images and video clips to the Zalo page "Hanoi Traffic Police Department" or call the hotline 0243. 942. 4451 to report.

People need to pay attention to their travel routes when returning to the Capital after the Lunar New Year holiday.
Accordingly, in the direction from southern provinces and cities to Hanoi, vehicles can follow the routes: Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway to the city center; old National Highway 1 through old districts such as Phu Xuyen, Thuong Tin, Thanh Tri, Hoang Mai to Giai Phong - Ngoc Hoi intersection.
In case of simultaneous congestion in the above areas, vehicles moving from Van Diem intersection, Dai Xuyen intersection (former Phu Xuyen district) to National Highway 6 (Nguyen Trai - Tran Phu - Quang Trung axis) - Ba La intersection, road 21B - National Highway 38, or moving on the left bank dike of the Red River to the center of Hanoi.
