Faced with the pressure of sudden increase in travel demand, bus station management units have proactively developed plans to increase vehicles, personnel and ensure security and order, determined not to let the situation of vehicle shortage, prolonged congestion or unsafety for passengers occur.
Among the major bus stations of the Capital, My Dinh bus station is forecast to be one of the points with the highest passenger volume increase during Tet this year. In particular, February 16 is identified as a peak season, with the number of passengers increasing by about 300% compared to normal days, mainly concentrated in the afternoon and evening hours.
To meet this need, the station management unit has fully prepared plans for personnel, organized traffic diversion in the station, minimizing the risk of local congestion and security and order problems arising.
Representatives of the My Dinh bus station management unit said that on peak days, the number of passengers on peak days is expected to be about 17,000 passengers/day, an increase of more than 350% compared to normal days, with over 950 bus trips/day, concentrated on Northwest, Northeast routes and some routes to Quang Ninh.
The Traffic Police force (CSGT) has determined that during the Tet period, the density of people and vehicles around bus stations, especially at gateways, will be very high, so violations of stopping and parking, picking up and dropping off passengers in violation of regulations will be strictly handled. Patrol and control teams are arranged continuously and closedly according to the time frame, strengthening two-way traffic patrols on key roads.
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Chien - Head of Traffic Police Team No. 6, Hanoi Traffic Police Department - affirmed: "Violating cases will be recorded and resolutely handled in accordance with the law. Before, during and after Tet, Hanoi Traffic Police will maintain continuous patrol teams to ensure traffic order and safety. Compliance with regulations is not only to avoid being fined, but more importantly to ensure safety for each trip.
Traffic Police Team No. 6 has also mobilized 100% of its personnel to serve to ensure traffic safety on traffic routes, especially the arterial route from the inner city to the outer city; arranged troops at key intersections, central intersections and main routes to serve, ensuring no congestion; and at the same time, strengthened handling of acts and causes of congestion such as vehicles stopping and parking on the road in the wrong places, passenger cars traveling slowly, stopping and parking, picking up and dropping off passengers on the route.
