Lao Cai - After heavy rain, the soil in many areas has nearly saturated, increasing the risk of flash floods, landslides and subsidence in 19 communes and wards in the area.

According to Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, in 24 hours from 5 am on September 17 to 5 am on September 18, many areas in the area had moderate to heavy rain.

The soil moisture model shows that many areas are near saturation, with moisture levels above 85%, even reaching saturation. This is a favorable condition for landslides and flash floods when heavy rain continues to occur.

In the next 6 hours, some areas will continue to have rain, with common rainfall of 5-10mm, in some places over 20mm. The meteorological agency assesses that although rain tends to decrease, the risk of flash floods, landslides and land subsidence is still high.
