Each sister is a silent mother
Phu Hoa Kindergarten was established in 2019. For nearly 62 years, this place has raised more than 150 orphans. The children who were once cared for and loved have now grown up, left the kindergarten, started a family, and built their own careers.
Currently, the orphanage has 6 Sisters taking care of 33 children. Every child who is brought here has a special situation: some children are abandoned right in front of the hospital gate, some children are discovered at the foot of the bridge, some babies are located under a tree in a state of cyanosis, ants bite swollen edema ...
A day for nurses begins at 4am - when the children are still drunk. School teacher Nguyen Thi Kim Chung (52 years old) shared: " Raising a child normally is not easy, but here, we raise dozens of children with psychological trauma since they were very young. Each day of our lives is a continuous cycle between the children, taking care of one child and the other.
There are children with severe malnutrition, the sisters have to splash congee spoons, both lulling and dropping them off. Some children are paralyzed and cannot sit on their own, the sisters have to persistently practice physical therapy every day, hoping that one day they can stand up and walk on their own.
For nearly 62 years, each grade of orphan has grown up, left the kindergarten to seek their own happiness, and then there have been other children coming, forming an endless circle. Despite many generations of first-time caregivers, the unchanging thing is the love and sacrifice that the sisters give to their children - taking care of every meal, sleep, and being ready to put aside their own dreams to nurture the future of unfortunate lives.
miracles written with love
Principal Nguyen Thi Kim Ha confided: "There are days when we just wake up to go to church, we hear a cry in front of the gate and know that the home has a new member. Many children are left right in front of the hospital gate, under the bridge, some are still red, some have umbilical cord disease, some have birth defects... But whoever they are, we still accept them, as a gift from heavens grace.
So Ha recalled that not all children brought home were healthy and whole. Some children are abandoned in instant noodles, in tree trunks... some think they have no chance to live, but the sisters still turn to the heart to fight for treatment, together pray, determined to save their children's lives from the hands of "death".
As the case of Nguyen Hoang Phuc Hung, was discovered in a sugarcane beach near the orphanage on the day of the Lunar New Year, in the cold of winter. When found, I have not been cut the umbilical cord, the whole body is pale. The Sister immediately brought me into the heating house. But the joy was not complete, they discovered Hung had cerebral palsy. Despite being taken to treatment everywhere, the results are not as expected. The doctor said she could only live to 5 years old. However, as a miracle, under the love and perseverance of the Sisters, Phuc Hung is now 13 years old and still lives happily in the arms of the Sisters and siblings in the hospital.
Currently, the smallest child in the kindergarten is Nguyen Hong Na Ry, picked up by the "pickets" in front of the gate on December 16, 2023. At that time, the child was still skinny, estimated to be only about a week old. "It is not clear who the child's relatives are because there is no piece of paper left. The sisters brought their children back to raise, luckily they were healthy, very well-behaved and almost never cried, Sister Ha shared.
Nguyen Thi Hong Tham confided: At Phu Hoa kindergarten, the sisters take care of, teach, and send their children to school. Every time they are sick, the midwives take care of every piece of food and medicine. Although we are not related by blood, we always love and support each other like a real family. We are very grateful to you. When I grow up, I hope to be a sister to take care of the orphans like the sisters did for their children.
Ms. Vo Kieu Da Nguyet - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tinh An Tay commune - shared: "For many years, the commune has often visited Phu Hoa kindergarten on holidays, especially Christmas. We also connected with benefactors to support and help the children here. The heart and sacrifice of the sisters have helped many children grow up, overcome illness and find happiness in life".
