In the early days of March, at the foot of Lang Giang bridge (Cam Duong ward, Lao Cai province), the Red River bank landslide prevention embankment phase 2 has clearly shown its shape after a long period of construction.
The project was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), invested by the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board with a level of 300 billion VND.
The project is implemented on an area of about 14.9ha, with a total length of 3,270m of embankment along the right bank of the Red River.
The embankment line is constructed by Corporation 319 – Ministry of National Defense, Dai An Construction Investment Joint Stock Company and Construction Company 568 Joint Stock Company.

The project started in February 2023 and is expected to be completed in December 2024. However, due to problems in site clearance related to 43 households, the project progress has been prolonged.
To date, the embankment line is basically completed, contributing to preventing the risk of landslides and creating a belt to protect riverside residential areas.
Not only the Red River, but also another important embankment line has been completed in the border area along the Nam Thi River.
The embankment line protecting the Nam Thi riverbank is built from the area of marker 104(2)+500m to marker 104(2)+3. 800m, belonging to Lao Cai ward. The project has a total length of about 1,754m, with a total investment of 225 billion VND.

The project is constructed by a consortium of Hoang Nguyen Construction Investment One Member Limited Company and Duc Tuan Construction Investment One Member Limited Company.
The investment in building the embankment not only aims to stabilize the flow and limit landslides, but also plays a role as a "shield" to protect production and daily life of people along the river, while consolidating infrastructure in the border area.

According to the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, to date, the main items of the project have been completed and are ready for use.
Meanwhile, in the Bao Thang commune area, another landslide prevention embankment project along the Red River is also being implemented to protect residential areas and essential infrastructure systems.
The project is about 2km long, using about 12ha of land, with a total investment of 170 billion VND.

Records at the construction site show that, taking advantage of the dry weather, contractors are focusing on constructing foundation pit excavation and concrete pile driving items. Many trucks and excavators are operating continuously to speed up the project progress.
The project was started at the end of 2024, expected to be completed by the end of 2025. However, up to this point, the volume has only reached over 40%, causing the investor to adjust the progress and postpone the completion deadline to June 30, 2026.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Hai - Deputy Head of Project Department 4, Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the contractor still maintains manpower and construction machinery in favorable sections such as dredging foundation pits, clamping piles and casting components.
The investor also requested to mobilize at least 100 workers at the construction site when weather conditions permit, and at the same time organize 5 to 6 construction teams to soon complete this important embankment line.
